Before your next road trip …

For many, this is a time to hit the highways. Before taking to the open roads, we suggest you follow these guidelines to prepare your vehicle:

Have regular maintenance performed – Simple services, such as oil and filter changes and fluid level checks, can do wonders for the long life and reliable performance of your vehicle. Remember, following your car or truck’s regular maintenance schedule is the best way to keep it running smoothly.

Maintain your tires – By keeping the correct air pressure in your tires and having them rotated and balanced regularly, your vehicle will get the best possible gas mileage. In addition, you can almost double the life of your tires by regularly having them aligned.

Get your brakes checked – We recommend that you have your brakes inspected every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. Regular inspections and adjustments significantly improve brake performance.

Have your electrical system, cooling system, and all hoses and belts inspected – To ensure that the coolant is clean, remember to have your radiator flushed at least every two years. In between flushings, check the coolant to make sure it has the proper mixture of antifreeze and water.

Check your battery – Even if it’s labeled maintenance-free, the battery needs to be checked by a service technician. The terminals should be clean, and the cables should be attached tightly. Also have a technician check the charging system to be sure your battery won’t let you down.

Last, but certainly not least, consider your personal comfort – Check your Air conditioning, thermostat and blower fan before you really need them.
