Cruisin’ for a Cause – September 20th, 2009
Motorcycles and Hot Rods ventured on a 100-mile route to raise money for local charity, Camp Horsin’ Around. Though it was a gloomy day for a ride, over 50 participants showed up to take part in the S&S Tire sponsored event and more than 80 people made donations to the charity. Riders began the scenic route at 10:30am from the S&S Tire’s newest location in the Hamburg shopping area of Lexington. The route took them to S&S Tire stores in Georgetown, Winchester, Richmond and back to Hamburg. Each participant received an event t-shirt, S&S Tire bandana, Valvoline goodie bag and a scorecard to tally the numbers they drew out of bags at each stop on the route. A prize was awarded to the participants with the highest and lowest scores and door prizes were awarded throughout the day. The Cruisin’ for a Cause event was supported with appearances from local celebrities, Eddie Montgomery (Montgomery Gentry), Mallory Ervin (Miss Kentucky 2009), and Officer Don (Skywatch traffic – WKYT/Clear Channel). The event kicked-off with live music preformed by John Curtis and Lauren Mink and concluded with a silent auction. Overall, the day was a great success and a lot of fun for participants and volunteers, raising over $5000 for Camp Horsin’ Around.
