Over thirty-five years ago, Don Schneider and Paul Swentzel had a vision when it came to selling tires. They believed in establishing a relationship with customers and manufacturers of major tire brands. Since 1974, the company has evolved from one location in Eastland Shopping Center to 13 retail stores in Central Kentucky. But what most Central Kentuckians do not realize is that S&S Tire, based in Lexington, also has nine distribution centers in eight states, employs over 500 people and is one of the country’s largest independent tire distributors.

Being one of the largest purchasers of Bridgestone, Firestone, Yokohama, Goodyear and Mastercraft tires in North America, allows S&S Tire to offer significant savings to their customers. Being multi-branded and having a warehouse in Lexington is a huge benefit to local customers, because their needed tires should always be in stock. This is something no other local competitor can claim.

S&S Tire and Auto Service Centers also offer a full range of auto services for cars, SUVs and light trucks. All employees are trained at a local facility called S&S University (SSU) to operate state-of-the-art equipment and to provide superior customer service. SSU offers a classroom environment with hands-on training so all SS& Tire employees can deliver the best service to each customer and their vehicle.

S&S Tire is the only locally owned and operated Tire Company in Lexington. As a locally owned business, it’s a natural for S&S Tire to not only invest in their business, but in the community as well. S&S Tire supports many local schools, churches and charities including the Markey Cancer Center, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Kentucky Blood Center, Toys for Tots, NFL Kid’s Day, ALS, God’s Pantry and so many more. Most recently, S&S Tire held a 100-mile motorcycle tour to raise money for Camp Horsin’ Around in Central Kentucky.
